NUC List 58 Illegal Universities In Nigeria; Proprietors To Be Prosecuted. Check If Your School Is Involved.

The Nigerian government through the National Universities Commission (NUC) has listed 58 unauthorized universities operating within Nigeria.

The disclosure was made through an official notice signed by Chris Maiyaki, the acting secretary of the NUC, saying these institutions have been shut down by the government henceforth and presently under investigation.

The statement from the NUC says the identified universities lack the necessary licensing from the federal government. It cautions individuals who engage with or obtain degrees from these illegal universities do so at their peril.

“Certificates obtained from these sources, will not be recognized for purposes of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), employment, and further studies”, according to the statement.

Mr Maiyaki confirmed arrests have been made of some of the operators of these illegal schools by the Department of State Services (DSS) and will be prosecuted.
