Usyk Knocks Out Dubois to Regain Undisputed Heavyweight Title

Oleksandr Usyk reclaimed his throne in the heavyweight division with a commanding fifth-round knockout of Daniel Dubois on Saturday, July 19, at Wembley Stadium, London.

The bout drew a roaring crowd of 90,000 fans, many waving Ukrainian flags in support of the undefeated champion.

Usyk, now 38, ended the fight at 1:52 of Round 5 with a brutal combination—a crisp overhand right followed by a sharp left hook that sent Dubois crashing to the canvas.

The referee counted him out, sealing Usyk’s victory and unifying the WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBF belts once again.

“I want to rest. Two or three months. 38 is a young guy!” Usyk said in the ring, smiling through tears as he dropped to his knees in celebration.

Usyk’s Masterclass and Dubois’ Struggles

Usyk entered the ring at his heaviest weight ever—227.3 lbs—but moved like a man half his size.

His footwork, timing, and ring IQ kept Dubois guessing from the opening bell. He landed 37.3% of his punches, compared to Dubois’ 19.6%.

Dubois, 27, had vowed to avenge his controversial 2023 loss to Usyk, where a disputed low blow marred the outcome.

But this time, there was no debate. Usyk dominated the first four rounds and dropped Dubois twice in the fifth.

“I gave everything I had,” Dubois said after the fight. “Take no credit away from the man. I’ll be back.”

Legacy Cemented, Future Uncertain

This win makes Usyk a three-time undisputed world champion—once at cruiserweight and now twice at heavyweight.

He’s the first boxer in the four-belt era to unify the heavyweight division three times.

Usyk hinted at retirement but also teased future opponents. “Maybe it’s Tyson Fury. Maybe Anthony Joshua. Maybe Joseph Parker. I just want to rest,” he said.

Promoter Frank Warren called Usyk “a modern-day legend,” while trainer Don Charles said Dubois lost to “a generational great.”

Should Usyk retire at the top—or take one more fight to seal his legacy?
