Tyson vs Mayweather: Exhibition Fight Set for 2026

Two of boxing’s biggest names, Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather, have agreed to step into the ring in 2026 for an exhibition clash that fans never imagined possible.

Tyson, now 59, announced the bout on September 4 through his social media pages. He shared a poster with half of each boxer’s face and the words “Legend vs. Legend.”

The former heavyweight champion captioned it simply: “Coming Soon.”

Tyson admitted he was surprised Mayweather accepted the fight. Speaking with TMZ Sports, he said, “This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen.”

He added: “I still can’t believe Floyd wants to really do this. It will be detrimental to his health.”

Despite the warning, Tyson said he was ready to give fans an unforgettable show. The announcement reignites global excitement around the return of the Iron Mike.

Mayweather, who is nearly a decade younger, brushed aside Tyson’s concerns. “I’ve been doing this for 30 years and there hasn’t been a single fighter that can tarnish my legacy,” he told TMZ Sports.

He continued: “You already know that if I am going to do something, it’s going to be big and it’s going to be legendary. I’m the best in the business of boxing. This exhibition will give the fans what they want.”

Since the fight is an exhibition, Mayweather’s perfect 50-0 record will remain untouched even if Tyson manages to defeat him.

Boxing Legends Returning to the Spotlight

This is not Tyson’s first comeback to the ring. In November 2024, he fought YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul but lost. Before that, his last professional fight was in 2005.

Mayweather’s last professional bout was in 2017 against UFC star Conor McGregor. Since then, he has appeared in exhibition matches against influencers and lesser-known fighters, cashing in on his box-office pull.

Both fighters remain global icons. Tyson is remembered for his ferocious power, while Mayweather is famed for his defensive mastery and business sense. Together, they represent different eras of boxing history.
