Primate Elijah Ayodele, the Spiritual Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church in Lagos Nigeria, has predicted an impending nationwide unrest that could cripple the country if immediate action is not taken to address food and energy crisis in the country.
The Primate gave the prophecy In a statement relayed by his Media Aide, Oluwatosin Osho. In the statement, Primate Ayodele cautioned President Bola Tinubu that unless the pressing economic challenges are addressed, a protest of unprecedented scale is on its way between August and September 2024, surpassing in magnitude the #EndSARS riots of 2020 that threatened the Nigerian establishment.
He predicted the protests witl start with disillusioned poor Nigerians, then quickly cut across other demographics.
“President Tinubu”, he wrote, “don’t allow another massive protest to come up, let there be food on the table of Nigerians. Do something about this inflation so that we can avoid inflation. I see another massive protest that will affect every quarter. If there is no improvement by August-September, it will be terrible.”
The prophet advised the government to declare a state of emergency on food security, and electricity and fuel availability and affordability.

“President Tinubu should address the economic hardship now, he should also improve on electricity because if there is no adequate power supply, it will affect the economy badly. They should declare a state of emergency on electricity because nothing is improving. This aspect will affect the Nigerian economy.”
“There is a lot to do to bring the price of food commodities down, if you don’t do it now, there will be a massive protest. All this propaganda will not help, let them face reality,” the prophet warned.
Old Prophecies Come True?
This is the same prophet who prior to the 2023 presidential election, warned his congregants in a viral video of the dangers of re-electing the ruling APC government.
“Nigeria will sink”, he warned them of electing President Tinubu who was the APC presidential candidate. “The economy will be in shambles. If the government of APC continues, Nigerians will suffer extraordinarily. I am not in support of anybody. As a matter of fact I don’t vote and I will never vote. I am telling you we have never seen hardship before. Now this is when we will experience more hardship. We will be sick and the economy will be sick”.
At the beginning of 2024, Primate Ayodele also prophesied he saw the Naira crashing to N1,400 to the USD. And it did by February, recovering in March and April only to slump back in May to N1515 to the USD in the parallel market as at Tuesday May 14. The currency devaluation has helped fuel the economic inflation.
“I have not seen anything better, for the future looks gloomy.“
Speaking in January 2024 interview he said, “I foresee that under the current realities, the CEFA (Francophone West African currency) will be stronger than the Naira. Also, the dollar will rise to N1400 and this will shake the economy. The economic stability will crash down to very low levels even though the Central Bank of Nigeria {CBN} and the federal government will be working to find a way forward. I have not seen anything better, for the future looks gloomy.”
Nigerian governments often bristle at political prophecies, sometimes warning the prophets to stay clear of politics. However, this time, it doesn’t take a prophet to discern the growing discontent among an increasingly impoverished Nigerian populace.
