A surprising moment unfolded in Abuja on Monday as social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, appeared to reconcile with businessman Linus Ifejirika, also known as Blord.
Both men met during court proceedings linked to their ongoing legal dispute, which began earlier in April.
After the session, they were seen shaking hands and smiling outside the courtroom, suggesting a possible end to their public feud.
Meanwhile, the case had drawn attention due to heated exchanges on social media and the involvement of activist Omoyele Sowore.
“Ordinarily, like I said, this case would have come to an end but because of Sowore… it’s about showing Sowore that he cannot do anything.”
The two men exchanged another handshake shortly after, reinforcing signs that tensions between them had eased.
Judge Steps Aside As Case Takes Unexpected Turn
However, the courtroom session took a sudden turn when the presiding judge stepped away from the case.
Lawyer Chikezie Elijah confirmed that both legal teams were present and ready to proceed before the development.
“Today, the defendant was in court, the prosecution and defence teams were all in court, and we informed the court that we were ready.”
He described the decision as unusual, saying it came without a formal application from either side.
“The judge… decided to inform that she would be recusing herself from this case and would send the file to the Chief Judge for reassignment.”
The matter has now been adjourned to May 19 for mention, pending reassignment to another judge.
How The Dispute Escalated Into Court Battle
The conflict between VDM and Blord started with online accusations about business practices and the use of VDM’s identity without permission.
VDM alleged that Blord engaged in overpricing and misused his name in promotions, leading to public backlash.
The dispute entered the legal system on April 1, 2026, when Blord was arraigned on charges including impersonation and forgery.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the case quickly gained national attention due to the personalities involved.
Sowore later entered the matter, criticising Blord’s detention as a rights issue, which added another layer to the controversy.
Blord was granted bail on April 17 under conditions, including surrendering his international passport.
Some observers believe the judge’s decision may relate to preserving confidence in the judicial process as public interest and commentary in the matter reach peach levels.
