In a tragic incident, 11 loggers were reportedly beheaded on Monday by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Damboa area of Borno State
An eyewitness said the terrorists numbering 15 rode on camels came upon the loggers suddenly while they were working at a charcoal site at about 5pm. The loggers took to their heels while the assailants gave chase.
Six corpses were initially found dismembered, then another five hours later.
The gruesome incident is a rude reminder of the unfinished work of eradicating terrorism and violent deaths in Nigeria and the harrowing existence of citizens in parts of the country.
