It’s that time of year when those who believe they have clairvoyant powers find those with itching ears, eager to hear what the new year holds.
Mostly among Pentecostal Christian groups, prophets and General Overseers use the opportunity to offer their prophetic predictions about how major events of the new year will be, based on their supposed inspiration from the outer world.
They often use the last evening of the year, December 31, in what is usually called the “Crossover Night,” to offer to their congregants a glimpse into the future they see.
The problem is that the predictions are often cast in general terms without pointedly referring to any specific events. Sometimes, the prophecy carries elements of doom and boom at the same time. It is hard to ever be wrong when you have a leg in each of the only two possible outcomes.
As the world ushered in the new year, we bring the prophetic leaflet shared by Prophet Daniel Olukoya, Founder and General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), on his prophetic outlook for 2025. The leaflet warns of a year marked by strange battles, economic turbulence, and massive weather disturbances.
During the church’s annual crossover service, Dr. Olukoya urged Nigerians to prepare for the challenges ahead, emphasizing the importance of prayer and forgiveness. He described 2025 as a year of “divine interruption” and “undeniable victory” for MFM members worldwide.
The prophetic predictions outlined by Dr Olukoya paint a complex picture of the year ahead, with both positive and negative trends. On one hand, he foresees a year of restoration, unlimited deliverance, and strange conversions. Many people will experience opportunities for marital breakthroughs and the fruit of the womb, he says.
On the other hand, he warns of a year marked by economic and political turbulence, strange new infirmities, and massive weather disturbances like floods. He also predicts a rise in spiritual battles, where those without glory will seek to destroy those with glory, and the empty will attempt to empty the full.
