Pepsi Nigeria has officially confirmed that bottles with yellow caps are being rolled out across the country, ending weeks of speculation and confusion among consumers.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, 15 October 2026 via the brand’s official X account, @Pepsi_Naija.
The post read: “Something EXCITING is coming to you like never before!! Watch out for all our bottles with a yellow cover.“
The confirmation follows widespread sightings of Pepsi, Mirinda and 7Up bottles with yellow caps on Nigerian streets, which had sparked rumours of a new look, a promotional campaign, or even counterfeit products.
Pepsi Nigeria did not disclose specific details about the promotion, the prizes involved, or the duration of the campaign.
The post carried the hashtags #PepsiNaija and #ThirstyForMore, but provided no further information beyond the teaser.
No official statement has been issued by Seven-Up Bottling Company (SBC), the franchise bottler of PepsiCo brands in Nigeria.
Historical Precedent
This is not the first time yellow caps have appeared on Pepsi bottles in Nigeria.
In 2018, SBC switched to white caps during a supply disruption, triggering false rumours of fake Pepsi in circulation.
The company dismissed those claims, confirming the white-capped bottles were genuine.
Globally, yellow caps were used in Pepsi’s 2004 iTunes giveaway in the United States (US) and similar promotions in 2005 and 2008, but these campaigns never extended to Nigeria.
Pepsi Nigeria last underwent a major visual identity change in June 2024, its first in 14 years, followed by the relaunch of the 60cl Long Throat Bottle in November 2024.
Neither of those initiatives involved yellow caps.
Consumers should watch for further announcements from Pepsi Nigeria or SBC for details on the promotion.

What’s the hype about yellow covering?
.This kind of branding, I don’t understand. Is the Nigerian one going to be different from others in the world. I just hope that they didn’t rebrand the liquid content.
