Nigeria has taken a new step to track public spending, as the Federal Government unveiled a detailed 560-page report on constituency projects tied to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The document was launched at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja, with senior officials, lawmakers, and agency heads in attendance.
First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, represented by Hajiya Nana Shettima, said the publication strengthens transparency and public trust in government projects.
The report, titled “Actualising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda through the Implementation of Constituency Projects”, compiles projects executed across sectors nationwide.
Constituency and Zonal Intervention Projects are funds allocated through lawmakers to support development at the grassroots, often covering schools, roads, clinics, and water systems.
She said, “The 560-page compendium just published by the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs represents a significant milestone in our collective efforts to strengthen accountability, transparency and effective service delivery.”
She added that such projects help bridge the gap between citizens and government by delivering visible development in local communities.

₦200 Billion Projects Across Two Years
Minister of Special Duties, Rt. Hon. Zaphaniah Jisalo, said the ministry remains responsible for monitoring and verifying federal intervention projects nationwide.
He explained that between 2023 and 2025, funds were directed into infrastructure, education, healthcare, rural electrification, and youth empowerment.
According to the ministry’s report, ₦100 billion funded 1,347 projects in the 2023 budget cycle.
Another ₦100 billion supported 1,120 projects in the 2024 fiscal year, reflecting continued federal investment in local development.
Permanent Secretary, Dr. Onwusoro Ihemelandu, presented the implementation data and performance metrics at the event.
He revealed that project verification improved significantly within one year.
Verification rates rose from 28% in 2023 to 43.1% in 2024, indicating stronger oversight and monitoring systems.
Meanwhile, verification for 2025 projects is ongoing, as the government expands its tracking framework.
New Engagement Plans And Policy Push
Looking ahead, the ministry plans deeper public engagement to ensure projects meet local needs and deliver measurable results.
These plans include town hall meetings in over 200 rural communities across Nigeria.
There are also proposals for a national conference involving all 774 Local Government Council chairmen.
In addition, a summit for national honour recipients is expected to support civic engagement and governance dialogue.
The event featured a technical review by Professor Ifeoma Udoye, who assessed the compendium’s scope and policy value.
She called for stronger institutional support and increased funding for the ministry to improve its coordination role.
She also appealed to leaders including \Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker Tajudeen Abbas to support the ministry.
The launch drew participation from top government officials and stakeholders who described the report as a key tool for tracking public projects.
With rising demand for accountability in Nigeria’s public finance system, the compendium provides a central reference point for citizens and policymakers.
