X has launched a new photo resharing feature that allows users to repost images while automatically crediting the original creator.
The feature was announced on 27 October 2026 by the official Creators account on the platform.
Users can now long-press any photo and select the option to post it.
The original author receives automatic credit, and both the creator and the person resharing the image become eligible to earn from Original Content Rewards.
How the Feature Works
The update is designed to encourage proper attribution and reduce uncredited screenshots or reposts of visual content.
Creators who produce original images, charts, memes or photographs can now benefit when others share their work.
Both parties in the reshare earn rewards under the platform’s Original Content Rewards programme, provided they meet the eligibility criteria for revenue sharing.
The announcement stated: “Photo resharing is live. See a photo you want to share? Long press it and tap Post photo. The original author gets credit, and you both earn from Original Content Rewards.”
Photographers and visual creators have welcomed the change as a step toward fairer recognition and monetisation of original work.
Some users have asked for clarification on how impressions and rewards are shared when a photo is reshared multiple times.
The feature forms part of X’s broader efforts to reward original content and discourage content theft on the platform.
It applies to photos posted on X and is available to users as of the announcement date.
