PSC, Police Begin Recruitment of 50,000 Constables

The Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force have commenced the recruitment of 50,000 police constables, following approval from President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement on Thursday, Head of Protocol and Public Affairs at the Commission, Torty Njoku Kalu, announced that the recruitment portal will open on Monday, 15 December 2025, and close on Sunday, 25 January 2026.

Eligible Nigerians are expected to submit their applications online during this period.

The Commission assured that the exercise will be conducted in the “most transparent, merit‑based and credible manner,” stressing that applications are free and no payment is required at any stage.

Eligibility Criteria

For general duty constables, applicants must:

  • Hold GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO or equivalent.
  • Have a minimum of five credits, including English and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
  • Be Nigerian citizens by birth.
  • Be between 18 and 25 years old.
  • Be medically, physically and psychologically fit.
  • Meet minimum height requirements: 1.67m (male) and 1.64m (female).

For the specialist cadre, applicants must:

  • Hold GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO or equivalent.
  • Have a minimum of four credits, including English and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
  • Possess at least three years’ experience and relevant Trade Tests.
  • Be between 18 and 28 years old.

The PSC emphasized that the recruitment will be strictly merit‑based, aiming to strengthen the police force with qualified personnel across the country.
