Arsenal marked their first home fixture of the new Premier League season in emphatic style, dismantling newly-promoted Leeds United 5–0 at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners delivered a commanding show of attacking flair and defensive discipline, though the win was clouded by injury concerns for Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard.
Eze Unveiled, Timber Inspires Early Lead
The evening began with excitement off the pitch as Arsenal unveiled new signing Eberechi Eze to the home crowd. The £68 million arrival from Crystal Palace received a raucous reception.
On the pitch, Mikel Arteta’s side were in complete control from the outset, pinning Leeds deep into their own half and testing goalkeeper Lucas Perri repeatedly.

Gyökeres Scores, Dowman Makes History
If the first half was impressive, Arsenal’s second was ruthless.
Viktor Gyökeres, the summer signing from Sporting Lisbon, wasted no time marking his home debut with a goal, bursting into the box and firing low past Perri in the 48th minute.
Timber then added his second of the night after a scramble from another corner, showcasing once again Arsenal’s set-piece efficiency under assistant coach Nicolas Jover.

The moment of the night came in the 63rd minute. Fifteen-year-old Max Dowman was introduced to make his Premier League debut, becoming one of the youngest players ever to represent Arsenal.
The teenager dazzled in stoppage time, weaving into the box to win a penalty. Gyökeres calmly converted for his second goal, sealing a 5–0 rout.
Managers React, Big Tests Ahead
Arteta praised his side’s focus despite the setbacks. “We showed maturity. Injuries are always tough, but the players adapted and kept pushing.”
On Saka and Ødegaard, he added: “We’ll have to wait for scans, but hopefully it’s nothing too serious.”
Gyökeres, delighted to open his account, said: “This is why I came here, to help the team score goals. The atmosphere tonight was incredible.”
Leeds boss Daniel Farke admitted his side were second best. “Arsenal punished us. We have to learn quickly at this level.”
The victory takes Arsenal to the top of the Premier League table with six points and a strong goal difference.
But with a crucial clash against Liverpool looming next weekend, attention will be on the fitness of Saka and Ødegaard.
Leeds, meanwhile, face the task of regrouping before meeting West Ham, knowing survival will require sharper performances than the one they offered in North London.
