Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has raised alarms over renewed Boko Haram attacks, saying insurgents are kidnapping and attacking communities daily without strong resistance from security forces.

Speaking at a Special Expanded Security Meeting in Maiduguri, Zulum urged reinforced military intervention to reclaim affected areas.

Military Struggles as Insurgents Regain Territory

Zulum revealed that Boko Haram fighters have dislodged security forces in Wajirko, Sabon Gari, Wulgo, and Izge—forcing civilians to flee their homes.

He acknowledged the military’s efforts, but called for advanced technology and stronger deployments to combat renewed insurgent activity.

“It is unfortunate that the renewed Boko Haram attacks and kidnappings are happening almost daily without confrontation,” Zulum said.

He commended President Bola Tinubu’s government for its support but stressed the urgent need for improved military strategies.

Traditional Leaders Confirm Boko Haram Control in LGAs

The Shehu of Borno, speaking on behalf of traditional rulers, confirmed that three local government areas—Guzamala, Marte, and Abadam—remain under Boko Haram control.

Many communities lack civil authority, leaving residents vulnerable to insurgent rule.

He urged the federal government to reconstruct key highways such as Biu-Damboa-Maiduguri, Maiduguri-Dikwa-Ngala, and Maiduguri-Monguno-Kukawa, which are essential for security operations.
