The Obafemi Awolowo University student, Subair Enitan, who attempted setting a new Guinness World Record for handwashing marathon has denied she was ever hospitalized, notwithstanding viral video of her in hospital.
Enitan kept her hands wet, soapy and busy washing for an incredible 58 hours nonstop. She initially planned for 50 hours.
Enitan thanked her fans and her school authorities for supporting her.
Initial images showed her hands turned almost white and wrinkled, and a video on Monday appeared to show her lying in bed, ostensibly in a hospital where concerned supporters may have taken her to.

But in a video Tuesday morning, Enitan says there’s no cause for alarm and denies ever being hospitalized and revealing miraculously fine hands. “I’m not in the hospital, I’m in my house“, she said.
No word yet from the Guinness World Record organization if they will officially recognize Enitan as the new record holder for hand Wash-A-Thon.
Search for world records in various categories have gripped Nigerian youths in recent times although the motivation remains unclear, whether it is fame or for the financial reward or both.
