Jürgen Klopp has returned to football management after being appointed head coach of the German national team.

The former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund boss has signed a long-term contract that will keep him in charge of Germany until July 2030.

Naija News reports that the appointment gives Klopp his first major role in international football, following a break from club management since leaving Liverpool at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano announced the news on his X account on Friday.

“Official: Jurgen Klopp is back! He’s the new German national team head coach. Done, confirmed until July 2030,” Romano wrote.

From Dortmund to Liverpool: Klopp’s Rise to the Top

The 59-year-old built his reputation as one of Europe’s leading coaches during a successful spell at Borussia Dortmund, where he won back-to-back Bundesliga titles and turned the club into a major European force.

That success paved the way for his move to Liverpool in 2015, where he spent nine years transforming the club into one of the continent’s most competitive teams.

Under Klopp, Liverpool won the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup and League Cup.

His standout achievement came in the 2019/20 season, when he led Liverpool to their first Premier League title in 30 years.

Along the way, Klopp also helped develop several players into world-class stars, cementing his status as one of the most respected coaches of his generation.

New Role Brings Fresh Pressure to Rebuild Germany

Klopp’s switch to international football is expected to generate excitement among German fans hoping he can help the national team return to the top of the world game.

He will now be responsible for building a competitive squad and guiding Germany into a new era.

In addition, he faces the task of restoring the country’s standing among the world’s leading football nations, after a period of disappointing results in major tournaments.

Known for his energetic style, strong leadership and ability to develop young talent, Klopp arrives with high expectations attached to his first-ever national team job.
