Former Senate leader and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Ali Ndume has warned that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is dominated by “kakistrocrats”—a term describing government by the least qualified or most unscrupulous officials.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Wednesday, Ndume urged the president to weed out incompetent aides before they cause further damage.
Ndume cited the recent scandal involving a fake government agency that operated within the premises of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation’s office as proof of oversight lapses.
“Already, I’ve been vindicated on that, as to saying that my concern is that the president has so many kakistrocrats that dominate the presidency. Unless he does something about it, they will continue to mess him up,” Ndume said.
While commending Tinubu for ordering the arrest of Nwabueze George over the alleged fake agency, Ndume questioned why stronger action had not been taken.
“I give the president credit. That is why I insist that if he had capable hands, all this mess and embarrassment wouldn’t be happening,” he added.
Ndume maintained that unless Tinubu replaces incompetent officials with qualified personnel, his presidency will continue to face unnecessary controversies and setbacks.
He stressed that effective governance requires vigilance and accountability at the highest levels.
