Former ARISE News anchor Dr Chiogo Constance Ikokwu has been appointed Campaign Spokesperson for the Obi-Kwankwaso National Campaign Council of the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
The appointment was included in the list of officials released by the party on 25 October 2026 as it constituted its National Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ikokwu brings more than two decades of experience in journalism across print, radio and television, together with expertise in political communication, media strategy and international affairs.
Her previous roles include Washington, DC Bureau Chief and Deputy Editor at THISDAY Newspapers, as well as political analyst and anchor at ARISE News.
She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Journalism and Communications, with research focused on the intersection of media and politics.
Ikokwu also served as Strategic Communications Adviser to former Minister of Finance Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and former Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Dr Okechukwu Enelamah.
Role in the Campaign Structure
In her new position she will communicate the positions of the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket, articulate campaign messages and engage the media on the party’s programmes and priorities.
The National Campaign Council is chaired by Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, with presidential candidate Peter Obi as Co-Chairman and vice-presidential candidate Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as Co-Vice-Chairman.
Ikokwu recently took part in the Nigeria Democratic Congress nomination process for the House of Representatives seat for Idemili North and South Federal Constituency in Anambra State.
She continues to pursue her commitment to public service while taking on the national communications role.
The appointment forms part of the party’s broader effort to strengthen its public engagement ahead of the 2027 elections.
That’s nice, congratulations to her
I love people who work/worked for Arise news, I hope she’d do a great job.
