An officer of the Nigeria Immigration service reportedly stabbed to death by his wife during a domestic disagreement that intensified into violence in Umuihi ,Abia State.
The Abia State Police Command announced the arrest of the suspect on Tuesday, following the fatal stabbing of her husband, Chidiebere James, immigration officer attached to the Abia Command over claim of unfaithfulness.
The State Commissioner of police, Danladi Isa,” the woman is now being questioned by detectives at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Umuahia regarding the murder”.
The tragic incident that took the immigration officer’s life occurred in the early hours of Monday, February 16, 2026, at the spouse’s residence in Umuihi, Umuogba Ekeoba in Ohuhu, Umuahia North Local Government Area.
An eyewitness and close family member disclosed that the remains of the immigration officer were moved to Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, where he was confirmed dead.
According to report, the disagreement between the spouse began on Sunday with a strong dispute over their sick child and the officer’s financial strain, resulting to his incapability to provide funds for the child’s medical treatment.
This disagreement went sour after the wife reportedly found compromising text messages on her husband’s mobile phone, raising suspicions of Infidelity.
During the confrontation inside their home, the deceased’s phone was damaged. In revenge. He allegedly destroyed his wife’s phone, resulting in physical violence.
The wife then picked up a pair of scissors and stabbed him during the struggle.
Community members in Umuihi are in shock and sadness over sad the incident.
