VP J.D. Vance to Lead New Federal Anti-Fraud Task Force

President Donald Trump announced on Friday, April 3, 2026, that Vice President J.D. Vance is now in charge of tackling fraud across the United States.

Consequently, the Vice President will take on the title of “Fraud Czar” as he leads a specialized task force to investigate the alleged theft of taxpayer money.

The President shared the news through his Truth Social account, alleging that fraudulent activity has become massive and pervasive within the country.

“We will call him the ‘FRAUD CZAR,’ and his focus will be ‘EVERYWHERE,’ but primarily in those Blue States,” Trump stated on the social media platform.

Furthermore, the President alleged that politicians in states like California, Illinois, and Minnesota have allowed an unprecedented “free for all” regarding public funds.

The administration believes that recovering these lost funds could significantly impact the national economy.

“The numbers are so large that, if successful, we would literally be able to balance our American Budget,” Trump stated.

Vance Leads High-Level Anti-Fraud Task Force

The Vice President’s office confirmed that this role stems from an Executive Order signed by Trump on March 16.

This order established a task force to coordinate a national strategy to stop waste and abuse within federal benefit programs.

Vance serves as the chairman of this group, which held its first-ever meeting last week behind closed doors to discuss a “whole-government approach.”

“This is not just the theft of the American people’s money. It is also the theft of critical services that the American people rely on,” Vance stated.

According to reports from The Associated Press, the task force has already begun aggressive enforcement actions in several targeted regions.

Meanwhile, the administration has specifically focused on Minnesota, where it recently suspended more than ₦375 billion ($250 million) in Medicaid funding.

The White House also linked these fraud allegations to recent immigration crackdowns, using the claims to justify a more rigorous federal presence.

Federal Raids And Enforcement In Blue States

California has also emerged as a primary focus for the new “Fraud Czar” and his team of federal investigators.

On Friday, Trump alleged that “raids have already started in L.A.” following the arrest of eight individuals in health care fraud schemes.

The White House rapid response account on X revealed that the task force has suspended over 200 health care providers in California.

“The job he will be doing… will be a major factor in how great the future of our Country will be,” Trump stated regarding Vance’s new mandate.

However, Democratic governors like Tim Walz of Minnesota and Gavin Newsom of California have pushed back against these federal actions.

They alleged that their states have worked for years to combat fraud and pointed to Trump’s previous pardons of individuals convicted of financial crimes.

Furthermore, the administration has strengthened its legal wing by creating a new role within the Department of Justice.

Colin McDonald was sworn in by Vance on Wednesday as the Assistant Attorney General for National Fraud Enforcement.

McDonald will report directly to the Vice President and the President to ensure the task force meets its aggressive recovery goals.
