Dunamis Pastor Turns Down ₦30 Million State Donation at Crusade

Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr Paul Enenche, has turned down a ₦30 million cash donation offered by Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris.

The event took place during a two-day crusade hosted by the church in Birnin Kebbi from June 17 to 18.

During the well-attended healing and deliverance crusade, an aide to Governor Idris stepped forward to announce and deliver the cash donation to the event’s organisers.

Speaking on stage, the aide said, “Our Governor, His Excellency, Doctor Nasir Idris Abdullahi, a people and comrade governor, has graciously approved the donation of the sum of ₦30 million to this gathering that is, to the organising committee.”

He added, “You know, whenever His Excellency makes a donation, he doesn’t leave without making that donation in cash. So, before I leave this stage, I want to present that sum of ₦30 million in cash.”

Despite the gesture, Pastor Enenche immediately declined the offer. He made it clear that the purpose behind the donation was well understood and appreciated but not acceptable in that context.

“If there’s anything like an orphanage, if there’s anything like that, at your discretion, please apply this amount of money to it. It will not be received,” he said.

He repeated his position and thanked the state government for the show of goodwill. Enenche acknowledged the gesture as an act of hospitality, saying, “They are only trying to demonstrate hospitality, the hospitality is very, very clear.”

Governor’s Aide Responds After Rejection

After the pastor’s decision, the governor’s representative addressed the crowd again and explained that the donation was not intended for political gain. He said it reflected Governor Idris’ habit of treating all visitors with warmth and fairness.

“Our governor, whoever comes to Kebbi State, he will definitely show him hospitality and show him appreciation, equity,” the aide said. He also expressed gratitude to the visiting cleric for his ongoing support of the Christian population in the state.

The rejection of the donation stirred discussions across religious and civic circles, with some siding with the pastor’s firm stance while others commended the governor for offering hospitality, even if the gesture was ultimately declined.
