Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu Visits Governor Soludo, Calls for Unity in Anambra Politics

On Sunday, June 1, 2025, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu paid a courtesy visit to Governor Chukwuma Soludo at the Old Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia. Ojukwu, who is the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and former Nigerian Ambassador to Spain, led a delegation of stakeholders from Nnewi.

The purpose of the visit was to thank the governor for his strong support and wise counsel since her nomination as a minister representing Anambra State. She said the support played a big role in her successful appointment to the federal cabinet.

“Your guidance and encouragement gave me confidence during my nomination process,” she said.

A Symbolic Visit with Political History

Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu is the widow of the late Biafran leader, General Odumegwu Ojukwu. He is known for founding the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the ruling party in Anambra since 2003.

Bianca’s visit to Soludo, who is the third APGA governor in the state’s history, held great political significance.

In the past, Bianca reportedly did not support Soludo’s 2021 governorship bid. However, their political relationship has since improved. Her recent appointment as minister under President Tinubu’s administration is seen as a result of Soludo’s backing, bridging a once-tense political gap.

Governor Soludo, who is seeking re-election in November this year, welcomed her warmly. He was accompanied by the First Lady of Anambra State, Mrs Nonye Soludo.

Support for Anambra’s Political Advancement

During the visit, both leaders discussed the importance of unity and collaboration across political lines. Bianca Ojukwu encouraged more Anambra citizens to support Governor Soludo’s efforts to improve the state.

“We must come together to build a stronger and better Anambra for our children,” she said.

Governor Soludo also thanked her for the visit. He expressed confidence in her ability to represent the state well in her role at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“You have our full support and prayers as you serve our nation,” he said.

The visit ended with prayers and expressions of goodwill from both parties and their delegations.
