The Nigerian Army has reacted to the explosion at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on Monday. The incident occurred at a bus stop situated in front of the well-known Mogadishu Cantonment along the Abuja-Nyanya road earlier in the day.

The army issued a statement assuring the public that the situation had been successfully contained and that there was no reason for panic. This declaration aimed to quell the anxiety arising from the unexpected detonation in a busy area.

Eyewitness accounts provided to reporters indicated that the explosion may have been triggered by a suspected suicide bomber, who was reportedly killed in the blast. These initial reports, though unconfirmed by official sources at the time, contributed to the widespread fear and speculation surrounding the incident.

The immediate aftermath of the explosion caused significant disruption as passers-by, bystanders, and road users in the vicinity reacted to the sudden and alarming event by fleeing the area in search of safety..

The Nigerian Army promptly utilized its official X (formerly Twitter) account to communicate with the public regarding the incident. Their initial statement read: “Explosion at Bus stop opposite Mogadishu Cantonment Abuja. Situation Under Control. Details Later.”

This brief message served as an immediate reassurance while indicating that further information would be provided subsequently.

Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the precise cause of the explosion and to implement any necessary measures to prevent future occurrences and ensure the continued safety and security of Nigeria’s capital city.
