U.S. President Donald Trump has unveiled a new visa program offering wealthy immigrants the right to stay in the United States indefinitely.

The card, which Trump refers to as the “Trump Card,” is expected to launch within two weeks.

A $5 Million Path to Permanent Residency

During a briefing aboard Air Force One, Trump held up the shiny card and told reporters, “For $5 million, this could be yours.”

The amount translates to approximately ₦7.7 million, making it accessible only to individuals with significant financial resources.

The initiative is expected to replace the existing EB-5 investor visa, which has long provided a path to U.S. residency for foreign nationals who invest in American businesses.

The new program also reportedly opens up avenues for citizenship, creating fresh opportunities for those willing to pay the premium price.

Targeting Wealthy Investors and Skilled Individuals

Trump’s “Gold Card” is not just for investors—it is also aimed at highly skilled professionals whose benefactors, including corporations and private individuals, are willing to cover the costs of their visa.

Videos circulating in U.S. media show Trump proudly displaying the golden card, which features his image. While the full details of the program remain unclear, Trump’s swift timeline indicates that the cards could be issued soon.

If implemented, the program may attract interest from foreign entrepreneurs and highly skilled workers eager to secure long-term residence in the U.S. through financial means.

In Nigeria, this could be a path to US citizenship for politicians and highly placed public officials who are mostly those that could such high amounts.

Trump did not indicate if his initiative will implement a method to block those with illicit funds from accessing the privilege.
