A major outage overnight in the United States has disrupted the PlayStation Network (PSN) worldwide, frustrating millions on the Sony gaming platform.
According to Sony’s official status page, the outage affected all services, including online multiplayer, the PlayStation Store, and PS Plus game downloads. This has left PS5, PS4, PS Vita, and PS3 users unable to access their consoles online.
Downdetector – a real-time status and uptime monitoring app, has already reported nearly 5,000 complaints, and social media is flooded with posts from frustrated users. One gamer posted, “Worked a 10-hour shift just for PlayStation Network to be down,” while another joked about spending time with his wife due to the downtime!
Sony has acknowledged the issue but has yet to provide a reason for the outage or a timeline for a fix.
In a statement, the company simply said, “Some services are experiencing issues,” and assured players they are working to resolve the situation.
The timing of this outage is particularly concerning, as Sony is set to release the disc-less PS5 Pro soon. Many gamers, especially those with digital-only consoles, are pointing out the importance of physical media in cases like this.
As of now, no solution has been announced, leaving many gamers with unusable consoles.
