Mike Tyson, former undisputed heavyweight boxing champion of the world is set to fight again after nearly 20 years in retirement.
The 58-years-old Mike Tyson is set to take on Jake Paul, 27 – the U.S. social media sensation at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Saturday July 20, in a bout in which Mike will be raking in $20 million.
The boxing icon, famously known as “Iron Mike” or “The Baddest Man On The Planet” actually fought about four years ago in a novelty exhibition match against fellow legend Roy Jones Jr.,
Details about this fight is not yet fully public but at least we know that Netflix – the video streaming company will broadcast it live on their platform, making it their first foray into live combat sports.
It has also not yet been determined if both fighters will wear headgear to protect their heads. They are both insisting the bout to be classified as a professional fight, but the ultimate decision rests with the Texas Boxing Commission.
Although Tyson’s friendship with Paul is well known and indeed has supported Paul’s amateur boxing career, Paul has sworn to finally put Iron Mike – the boxing legend with a chequered past to “sleep” with the fight – whatever he means by that.

“Whether you are team Paul or team Tyson, a lifelong boxing fan, watching your first fight, you are not going to want to miss this event. I have a chance to prove myself against the greatest heavyweight champion of the world, the baddest man on the planet, and the most dangerous boxer of all time. Time to put Iron Mike to sleep,” Paul confidently declared.
In history, Tyson is regarded as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time. He reigned undefeated from 1987 to 1990 and won his first 19 professional fights by knockout, 12 of them in the first round.
Whether he still carries his shattering punching power of the 1990’s will be tested at Arlington, Texas.
