President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reacted happily to the verdict on Thursday from the Nigerian Supreme Court upholding his victory in the February election.

Surrounded by party faithful and inner members of his kitchen cabinet including Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, party chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje and federal capital territory minister, Nyesom Wike, Tinubu said he was focused now on pulling Nigerian out of depression, and that he hardly could afford “additional distraction to building an inclusive economy” for the country.

The judgement of the Supreme Court has put a stop to shenanigans and innuendos, to lying and trial in the media“, the triumphant president declared.

“The court has demonstrated an indivisible commitment to the rule of law and humanity and a commitment to do justice to all Nigerians regardless of ethnic and religious or any other biases“.

Opposition PDP Sad

But the opposition party, PDP, in a sharp reaction to the apex court verdict said it and millions of Nigerians are “alarmed, disappointed and gravely concerned with the reasoning of the Supreme Court”.

The PDP asserts that “it is indeed a sad commentary for our democracy that the Supreme Court failed to uphold the provisions of the law.

Instead, it trashed the expectation of the majority of Nigerians who looked up to it as a Temple of Impartiality to deliver substantial justice in the matter having regards to the laws and facts of the case” the party said.

Under Nigeria’s legal system, the verdict of the Supreme Court is binding and there are no more provisions for appeal. President Tinubu has now secured his four-year term but for millions of opposition supporters who believe he won the election fraudulently, the president will always suffer from a legitimacy crisis.
