Hon. Godson Odiniya, father of BBNaija Season 8 winner Ilebaye Odiniya, has spoken publicly about ongoing tension between him and his daughter following her rise to fame.
In an alleged voice note, Odiniya said their relationship changed after she won the reality show. He claimed she became less open to advice and began keeping different company.
“I told her to give a public appreciation to those who supported us till she won BBN but she refused,” he said, adding that supporters also became less active afterward.
Odiniya said he tried to guide her on managing her money and lifestyle choices but she often resisted. “Each time I talk to her she will insult me,” he alleged.
He claimed he warned her against cosmetic surgery and body enhancement procedures at a young age, saying their communication became tense because she felt he was always correcting her.
The father also narrated a physical disagreement during an argument.
“I decided to sit her down and talk to her because she is disappointing me too much,” he said, alleging she reacted aggressively, leaving him with injuries.
Odiniya further alleged that Ilebaye negatively influenced her younger brother, affecting his behaviour and school life. He said he had warned her but felt ignored.
He added that he encouraged her to invest in meaningful projects that could help others, but she preferred spending freely.
“The way she spends money… I told her several times let us have a place that you can develop,” he said.
Despite his grievances, Odiniya appealed to Nigerians for understanding and prayers. He said he still hopes for peace in the family and a positive change in his daughter’s life.
