Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido has confirmed that his long-awaited joint album with American singer Chris Brown will be released next year.
He made the announcement during a recent interview on the Swift Conversations podcast hosted by Adesope Olajide.
The singer explained that his current creative direction is rooted in African sounds, even as he continues to work with international artistes.
He also said the project with Chris Brown is already in motion and remains one of his most anticipated collaborations.
Davido’s confirmation adds new momentum to a project fans have been waiting for since it was first teased in 2023. Over the years, both artistes have built a strong working relationship, producing multiple hit records that blended Afrobeats and R&B influences.
Their collaboration history includes the global hit “Blow My Mind” released in 2019, which helped deepen Davido’s reach in the American music market.
Since then, they have worked on several other tracks such as “Lower Body,” “Shopping Spree,” “Nobody Needs To Know,” “Sensational,” and “Hmm.”

Davido said his new music phase is heavily inspired by African production styles, with a return to producers from Nigeria and across the continent.
He explained that this direction reflects his identity and artistic growth over the years.
“The music I am making now is very African. In this next project, I am working with a lot of my original producers from back home,” Davido said.
However, he made it clear that international collaboration remains part of his career path due to his global presence. He noted that working with American artistes will continue alongside his African-focused sound.
“However, I am still an American, so definitely there’s going to be collaborations. Me and Chris Brown got an album coming next year,” he added.
The joint album is expected to combine Afrobeats rhythm with R&B influence, a blend that has defined their previous collaborations and global appeal.
