Veteran Nollywood actress, Ireti Doyle, has opened up about her separation from ex-husband, Patrick Doyle, years after their marriage ended.
The actress had earlier confirmed their divorce during an interview in January 2023, without disclosing details.
Despite public curiosity and media attention, both individuals have continued to work together professionally on screen.
However, Speaking in a recent interview with Morayo Brown, Ireti admitted that the end of her marriage was deeply painful.
Speaking for the first time about her failed marriage, Ireti stated that her decision to remain silent was because “it is none of the public’s business”.
According to her, the only people deserving of any explanation are close family members and friends who were part of their union from the beginning.
She expained that her silence over the years was intentional, stressing that her personal life is not for public consumption.
“First of all you didn’t hear anything because it is none of your business. Two people come together to get married, there’s a celebration. Sadly, unfortunately something went wrong and you could no longer continue the life journey together.”
“The only people you owe explanation to at all, are those family and friends that gathered on day one. You see this larger audience that you are performing for, they do not care. God forbid because I will never knowingly give myself up as a click bait. The end of any relationship talks less of long time marriage is painful”, she said.
