US Embassy Cancels Abuja Visas Amid Fears of Pro-Iran Protests

The US Embassy in Abuja cancelled all visa appointments for Wednesday, March 4, 2026. It cited risks from possible protests. These stem from the US-Iran conflict. First, however, the embassy warned US citizens to stay indoors.

In a statement on its website, the embassy noted high protest risks in the Federal Capital Territory.

The U.S. Embassy in Abuja informs U.S. citizens that there is a high potential for protests in Abuja tomorrow, March 4, 2026, due to the current conflict with Iran,” it said.

Past protests led to violence with Nigerian security forces. So, the embassy told Americans to stay home. It also said to avoid crowds and watch local news.

The alert is in connection with the US-Israel war with Iran, which is on day five now, and with no end in sight.

President Donald Trump dismissed talks. On Truth Social, he posted: “Their air defense, Air Force, Navy, and Leadership is gone. They want to talk. I said ‘Too Late!’

Earlier, he hinted at openness. But now, he says strikes wrecked most of Iran’s forces. “Just about everything’s been knocked out,” Trump told reporters.

Trump alleged Iran planned a first strike. “I think they were going to attack first, and I didn’t want that to happen. So, if anything, I might have forced Israel’s hand,” he said.

He worries a new bad leader could rise. Yet, two strike waves killed possible successors.

Iran rejects talks. Senior aide Mohammad Mokhber said: “We [have] no basis for any negotiations with them.” .

He added: “We can continue the war as long as we want.” Iran plans a three-day funeral for Khamenei, 86. It starts at 10:00 pm in Tehran. Burial follows in Mashhad.

Meanwhile, consular services run as usual. Embassy Abuja and Consulate Lagos stay open.
