Dangote Appoints Daughters to Key Roles, Signs $400m Expansion Deal

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has appointed three of his daughters to major executive positions within the Dangote Group, underscoring a new phase of succession planning and governance in the multi-billion-dollar conglomerate.

Halima Aliko Dangote was named Group Executive Director, Dangote Family Office & International Offices (Dubai & London).

She will oversee the establishment of the family office in Dubai, strengthen governance frameworks, and ensure operational alignment across the Group’s international offices.

Fatima Aliko Dangote was appointed Group Executive Director, Commercial Operations – Oil & Gas.

Her role covers commercial leadership across the Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals, Fertiliser, and upstream operations. She will also continue to oversee corporate communications, administration, and procurement.

Mariya Aliko Dangote was named Group Executive Director, Commercial Operations – Cement & Foods Businesses.

She will lead commercial strategy for cement and food operations, focusing on market expansion and customer value.

In an internal note, the company said: “As we intensify our journey toward Vision 2030, our ambition to become a $100 billion enterprise by the end of the decade, we must continue to strengthen our leadership bench and empower a new generation.”

$400m Expansion Agreement

Alongside the leadership changes, Dangote Group announced a $400-million construction equipment agreement with China’s XCMG Construction Machinery Co., Ltd.

The deal will accelerate expansion of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million, positioning it as the largest refinery in the world.

The Group said the new equipment will support projects across refining, petrochemicals, agriculture, and infrastructure. Expansion plans include:

  • Increasing polypropylene production from 900,000 metric tonnes per annum (mtpa) to 2.4 million.
  • Tripling Nigeria’s urea capacity from 3 million to 9 million mtpa, plus 3 million mtpa in Ethiopia, making Dangote the largest global producer.
  • Boosting Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB) output to 400,000 mtpa, strengthening supply to Africa’s detergent industry.
  • Expanding base oil production capacity.

The Group described the agreement as a strategic investment aimed at deepening its construction footprint.

“The additional equipment we are acquiring under this partnership will significantly enhance execution across our projects. With this investment, we are positioning ourselves to become the number one construction company in the world,” the statement said.

Dangote Group is accelerating regional expansion and market development as it advances toward its Vision 2030 target of becoming a $100 billion enterprise.
