JAMB Mock Faces Nationwide Glitches: Stakeholders Worry

Widespread complaints have followed the conduct of the 2026 mock examination organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, after technical challenges disrupted the exercise across several Computer-Based Test centres nationwide.

The mock examination, held on March 28, 2026, was intended to prepare candidates for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. However, the exercise was overshadowed by reports of system failures and delays in multiple locations.

Candidates and parents reported difficulties accessing the examination platform, with some unable to log in due to technical errors.

In several centres, computers malfunctioned or froze during the test, preventing candidates from completing their examinations.

There were also concerns over poor network connectivity, which caused significant delays in the commencement of the exam. Some candidates reportedly waited for hours without being able to participate, while others experienced interruptions during the process.

In addition, power supply challenges were observed in certain centres, further complicating the smooth conduct of the exercise.

The situation is causing some concerns among stakeholders in the education sector, particularly regarding the preparedness of the examination body ahead of the main UTME.

Parents and candidates have called for urgent measures to address the identified issues and prevent a recurrence.

Despite the disruptions, the mock examination is optional and does not necessarily affect admission outcomes, as it is primarily designed to test the system and help candidates familiarise themselves with the computer-based testing format.
