Diaspora Group Slams SE Gov. for Silence Over Nnamdi Kanu’s Ordeal

A Diaspora-based Igbo think-tank has called out governors and political leaders of the South East geopolitical zone of Nigeria, alleging betrayal of their people.

The group, Ikenga Think-Tank, North America, accused them of “silent complicity” in the killings and persecution of Igbo youth.

In a demand letter, Dr. Dankwu Agbambu said leaders had failed to protect lives and property. “Igbo youth are hunted down, incarcerated, raped and slaughtered,” the letter read.

A Deafening Silence

The group said the silence of South-East leaders had emboldened the killers. “Your deafening silence emboldens the perpetrators of this genocide,” it stated.

They accused the leaders of chasing “fleeting privileges of office” while their people suffer. “History will not forgive you,” the letter warned.

The group condemned the continued detention of IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. “He is the prophet of our time and voice of a silenced people,” they said.

They also blamed the Nigerian military and Fulani terrorists for ravaging the land. “You bring shame upon Igbo intelligence, our ancestors and above all, our Yah,” the statement read.

Demands for Action

The letter listed four demands. First, a “clear, united condemnation” of the killings. Second, a public call for Kanu’s release.

Third, concrete steps to secure the region. Fourth, the “immediate removal of all military checkpoints.”

The group warned leaders to choose wisely. “Stand with your people, or stand exposed as willing accomplices,” they said.

“We are watching, the world is watching, and posterity will not forget.”
