Nigerian actor and content creator Adebowale Adedayo, famously known as Mr Macaroni, refuses to back down in his fight against oppression and bad governance. His activism has become a source of inspiration to many across Nigeria.
Speaking on his X handle, Mr Macaroni said, “I will never stop speaking out against the oppression of the people and bad governance. This has always been my stance, even before I became famous. However, please do not hold other celebrities to the same standard, especially when the people themselves are not accountable.”
Mr Macaroni shared that his advocacy against injustice began long before he gained fame. Through comedy skits, public engagements, and social media, he continues to challenge societal issues while encouraging accountability and positive change.
Advocacy During the #EndSARS
Mr Macaroni’s activism became even more visible during the #EndSARS movement in 2020. Young Nigerians protested police brutality and extrajudicial killings committed by the later disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). He actively mobilized youths and used his platform to amplify their voices, becoming a prominent face of the movement.

In February 2021, Mr Macaroni’s advocacy reached a critical moment when he was arrested during the Lekki Toll Gate protest.
Security forces brutalized him and other demonstrators, but this experience only strengthened his resolve. Despite the threats and intimidation, he vowed to continue speaking truth to power.
Mr Macaroni says he believes that change begins with citizens holding themselves accountable first. His message challenges people to participate actively in improving governance and justice. He said, “Everyone has a role to play, including ordinary Nigerians. Change starts with us.”
Through his courageous approach, Mr Macaroni has become a respected public figure in Nigeria’s fight against systemic oppression.
His comedic skits not only entertain but also provoke thought and dialogue about serious societal issues.
