The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has officially released the results for the November/December 2024 examinations.

The announcement was made by NABTEB’s Acting Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Nnasia Asanga, during a press briefing in Benin City, Edo State.
A total of 44,226 candidates sat for the exams in 1,825 centers across Nigeria. This represents 98.87% of the total enrollment.
- 67.56% of candidates (29,880 students) obtained five credits and above, including English and Mathematics.
- 95.94% of candidates (42,431 students) secured five credits or more, with or without English and Mathematics.
However, there was a slight decline in English and Mathematics results compared to 2023.
Last year, 71.27% of candidates passed with five credits, including both subjects. Meanwhile, performance in five credits excluding these subjects saw a minor improvement, rising from 94.82% in 2023 to 94.93% in 2024.
Enrollment Breakdown
NABTEB recorded the following enrollments:
- O’Level Candidates: 44,730 students (25,542 males, 19,188 females)
- A’Level Candidates: 4,095 students (2,725 males, 1,370 females)
The exams took place between November 7 and December 7, 2024, covering a variety of vocational and technical fields.
The results showed significant improvements in certification rates at different skill levels:
- Craft Level: 40,978 candidates took the exams, and 33,295 (81.25%) earned their certification. This marks a major increase from the 41.16% pass rate in 2023.
- Master Craftsmen Level: 3,892 candidates participated, and 2,404 (61.77%) earned certification, compared to 54.82% in 2023.
Exam Malpractice and New Digital Certificates
While overall performance improved, some cases of malpractice were recorded. NABTEB reported that 256 candidates (0.53%) were caught engaging in exam misconduct.
Additionally, NABTEB introduced electronic certificates to make it easier for candidates to access their results. Students who took exams between May/June 2017 and November/December 2022 can now obtain digital copies of their certificates.
“This initiative ensures faster and easier access to examination certificates, eliminating delays faced by candidates in the past,” Dr. Asanga said.
NABTEB, he says, remains committed to enhancing technical and vocational education in Nigeria, ensuring that students have the skills needed for national development.
