Major-General Oluyinka Soyele claimed that the Nigerian Army has killed scores of Lakurawa fighters and destroyed 22 camps in Kebbi and Sokoto States. He made this announcement on Friday during a press briefing at the Army Headquarters in Abuja.
Soyele said, “Our troops have successfully neutralized numerous Lakurawa fighters in coordinated operations across Kebbi and Sokoto States.” He added, “We have also destroyed 22 camps used by these criminals.“
The operations were part of the ongoing efforts to combat banditry and insurgency in the region. Soyele emphasized the importance of these operations in restoring peace and security. “Our goal is to ensure the safety and security of all citizens in these areas,” he stated.
The Army Commander praised the bravery and dedication of the troops involved in the operations. He said, “Our soldiers have shown exceptional courage and commitment in the face of danger.“
Soyele asked for more support from the local communities in providing intelligence and cooperation. “The success of these operations is partly due to the valuable information provided by local residents,” he noted.
The Nigerian Army has intensified its efforts to combat banditry and insurgency in recent months. Soyele assured the public that the military would continue to work tirelessly to eliminate these threats. “We will not rest until we have completely eradicated these criminal elements,” he declared.
The Army Commander urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the authorities. “We need the continued support and cooperation of the public to achieve lasting peace,” he said.
