Head of Communication and Strategy in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organization, Dele Momodu, says Nigeria’s Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has cornered himself into a political impasse by serving in the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.
Dele Momodu, himself a former presidential aspirant and renowned publisher made the observation in an Instagram post on Thursday, responding to Wike’s media briefing with journalists in Abuja earlier.
In the media chat, addressing the speculation surrounding his loyalty to the PDP, Wike still maintained firmly, “I am a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Have you ever seen me switch sides?”
But Wike’s position flies in the face of noticeable absence from PDP meetings and campaign events. Despite this, Wike expressed no remorse regarding his actions.
Dele Momodu, taking the gauntlet, said it was important to put the records straight that all of Wike’s grouse with PDP was not about the principle of “southern presidency”, but his “towering ego” since failing to secure the party’s presidential, or at the minimum, vice presidential ticket in the 2023 general election which left Wike simply “inconsolable”.

“Wike hired and fired chairpersons at will. After losing the primary, he was ready to settle for the Vice Presidential slot but became disgruntled when even that wasn’t granted”, wrote Momodu.
The PDP chieftain also asserted that Wike backed his successor, Gov. Siminalayi Fubara to succeed him as governor of Rivers State, only “because he hoped to maintain control as a third-term Governor, indirectly”, then fell out with Fubara once the governor tried to assert his independence.
“What audacity prompts a man to claim allegiance to the PDP while actively supporting his idol in the APC, boasting that no one can challenge him in 2027? I don’t fault Wike; I blame those who have tolerated his excesses in the PDP. Wike’s sole mission now seems to be the destruction of the PDP on behalf of Tinubu. It’s satisfying to see Wike trapped in a political deadlock, prioritizing his own interests over the party’s. He has chosen to reign in hell rather than serve in heaven. That’s how the cookie crumbles… Sad“, Momodu concluded.
