Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara have paid tribute to fathers, praising their sacrifices and role in building families and society.
Their messages marked Father’s Day 2026, celebrated on Sunday across Nigeria and globally.
In her statement, the First Lady recognised fathers as key figures in shaping the lives and future of children.
She said, “On this Father’s Day 2026, we celebrate the love, strength, and sacrifice of fathers across Nigeria and around the world.”
She added, “Fathers play a vital role in shaping the character, confidence, and future of their children.”

Fubara Describes Fathers As Everyday Heroes
Meanwhile, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara described fathers as pillars of strength whose sacrifices sustain homes and communities.
In a statement released through his media aide, he reflected on the daily efforts of fathers across the state.
He said, “A father’s love is quiet strength.”
He added, “It is the man who leaves home before dawn and returns after dusk so his children can eat and go to school.”
Fubara said many fathers endure hardship to provide for their families despite economic challenges.
He said their sacrifices often go unnoticed but remain essential to society.

The governor also described fathers’ efforts as the foundation of stable homes.
