Actor Yul Edochie has sparked fresh debate online after sharing his hardline view on infidelity in marriage.
In a post on X, the Nollywood star told men to walk away immediately if they discover their wives are cheating.
He said men should not beg, negotiate or continue the relationship after such a discovery.
His comments have drawn attention because of the blunt tone and the personal nature of the issue.
Edochie warned men not to tolerate cheating in marriage.
“Once you find out your wife is cheating on you, leave her immediately. Men, stop tolerating nonsense in the name of marriage. Don’t negotiate anything with her. Don’t condone. Don’t discuss with her boyfriend.”
He said the woman should be allowed to go and the man should move on.
“Let her go quickly. And move on.”
He also said forgiving a cheating partner could send the wrong message.
“If you forgive her and continue, you have confirmed to her that you’re a weak man.”
He added that such a choice could return later as pain and regret.
“Danger looms for you. That decision will come back to haunt you later. Women deal mercilessly with weak men,” he wrote.
Why His View Stands Out
Edochie’s comments quickly drew attention because he has lived through a public marital crisis of his own.
The actor and filmmaker has previously faced a widely reported marriage breakdown with his now ex-wife, May Edochie, formerly known as May Aligwe.
Their marriage became public controversy in 2022 after Yul revealed he had taken actress Judy Austin as a second wife, a decision that triggered a long-running marital crisis and intense online debate.
May later filed for divorce in August 2023, and the case has remained in court through repeated adjournments, with reports saying the dispute has also involved custody, property, and damages claims.
That background has made Mr. Edochie’s latest comments even more controversial, because many social media users are reading them through the lens of his personal pain.
His post also reflects a worryingly growing trend where celebrities use social media to speak directly on marriage, loyalty and family life – matters that in saner times were exclusively heard and resolved by families or the faith communities.
