Former Bayelsa East Senator, Ben Murray-Bruce, has rejected reports alleging he was disqualified or had withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial race.

The APC had released a list of aspirants not cleared for its Senate primaries ahead of the 2027 elections. Names included Murray-Bruce, Garba Musa Mai Doki of Kebbi, Bello Abudullahi Bodejo of Taraba, and Banigo Ipalibo of Rivers.

Reacting on his official X account, Murray-Bruce described the reports as false. He said: “This report is fallacious. I was surprised to see it on your platform.”

He explained that the story prompted him to call APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, to confirm why such information was circulated.

“I have neither withdrawn nor been disqualified. These are very fluid times, and it would be in the best interest of journalistic excellence to exercise caution and verification, rather than utilise speed in your reportage,” he added.

Murray-Bruce urged journalists to verify facts before publishing political reports, especially during sensitive election periods. He insisted he remains in the race.
