The All Progressives Congress (APC) has extended the main timelines for its 2027 general election nomination process.
The adjustment affects the sale and submission of expression of interest and nomination forms, as well as the screening of aspirants.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
Meanwhile, the revised schedule shifts multiple deadlines into early and mid-May 2026.
The party said the changes were necessary to accommodate adjustments in its internal election preparations.
APC Releases Updated Nomination Schedule
According to the APC, the sale of nomination forms will now end on midnight, Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
Submission of completed forms has also been extended to midnight on Thursday, May 7, 2026.
Screening of aspirants will take place from Friday, May 8 to Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
“Sale of Forms: Extended to midnight, Wednesday, 6th May 2026. Submission of Forms: Extended to midnight, Thursday, 7th May 2026. Screening of Aspirants: Friday, 8th May 2026 – Tuesday, 12th May 2026.”
The publication of screened aspirants is scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
The party initially planned to begin sales on April 25, 2026, and end on May 2, but the process started later than expected.
The All Progressives Congress said the revised timeline ensures smoother coordination ahead of internal primaries.
Nomination Fees Remain High For Aspirants
The APC also maintained its previously announced nomination fees for different elective positions.
Presidential aspirants will pay ₦100 million, while governorship candidates will pay ₦50 million.
House of Representatives aspirants are required to pay ₦10 million, Senate aspirants ₦20 million, and House of Assembly aspirants ₦6 million.
Party officials say the fee structure remains part of its established electoral guidelines for screening serious contenders.
Meanwhile, political observers expect the extended timeline to give aspirants more time to complete documentation and political consultations.
The adjustment also comes ahead of intensified preparations within the party for its internal primaries.
With Nigeria’s 2027 elections still over a year away, party structures are already becoming active across states.
The APC, as the ruling party, continues to shape early political positioning ahead of the national polls.
As the nomination process progresses, attention will turn to who clears screening and secures party tickets.
