The All Progressives Congress (APC) has assured all aspirants for its National Working Committee (NWC) election positions of a fair and transparent screening process.
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, gave this assurance on Monday in Abuja during the inaugural meeting of the screening sub-committee.
The party is preparing for its national convention scheduled for March 27 and 28 in Abuja.
This event will see the emergence of key national officers as the ruling party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
The committee is expected to follow the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act. Governor Oyebanji noted that no aspirant should fear any form of victimization during the exercise.
The screening process will focus on accountability and strict adherence to established rules.
“We are going to be transparent. We are going to be fair and just to all of them,” Oyebanji stated.
Furthermore, he noted that the guidelines are clear for every member involved.
“We are going to do everything in accordance with the constitution of the party and Electoral Act. So they don’t have anything to fear,” he added.
Kogi State Governor and committee co-chairman, Ahmed Ododo, expressed full confidence in the panel. He noted that the credibility of the members will ensure a successful assignment for the party.
Long-Term Implications for Governance and Leadership
Governor Ododo alleged that the outcome of this screening will affect the country for many years.
“Whatever we do now will be for generations to come, which I’m one of the beneficiaries today,” he stated.
The screening of aspirants for national offices begins on Tuesday, March 24. It will take place at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja starting from 9:00 a.m., where candidates must present their original documents.
This process is a required part of the APC’s internal rules to verify qualifications. The results will decide who is cleared to contest at the national convention later this week.
