Enugu Stands Still as Governor Peter Mbah Marks 54th Birthday

The “Coal City” state erupted in celebration today, Tuesday, March 17, 2026, as the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, marks his 54th birthday. Citizens, political associates, and traditional rulers have flooded the airwaves and social media with tributes, characterizing the Governor’s tenure as a “transformative era” for the South East.

Born on March 17, 1972, in Owo, Nkanu East Local Government Area, Dr. Mbah has, since his inauguration on May 29, 2023, transitioned from a successful maritime lawyer and oil magnate to a strategic architect of sub-national governance.

At 54, Governor Mbah’s administration is being lauded for moving Enugu away from a “civil service economy” toward a private-sector-driven hub.

His bold target to grow the state’s GDP from $4.4 billion to $30 billion is no longer viewed as a campaign slogan but as a visible roadmap.

Key achievements highlighted by stakeholders:

  • Educational Revolution: The construction of 260 Smart Green Schools—one in every ward—is nearing completion. These facilities are designed to integrate AI, robotics, and digital literacy into the primary school curriculum.
  • Water Scarcity Victory: The successful revival of the 9th Mile 24/7 Water Scheme, which has increased daily production to over 70 million liters, ending decades of chronic water scarcity in Enugu metropolis.
  • Fiscal Independence: A massive jump in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) through the automation of tax systems, allowing the state to maintain a massive N521.5 billion 2026 budget with minimal reliance on federal FAAC allocations.

Infrastructure and the “Aviation Hub” Dream

Governor Mbah’s birthday also coincides with significant milestones in urban renewal. The administration’s massive road projects in Abakpa, Trans-Ekulu, and rural connectivity in the Nsukka zone have revitalized commerce.

Furthermore, the recent expansion of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport operations and the introduction of a statewide CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) bus fleet have set Enugu apart as a leader in sustainable transport and regional trade.

Traditional rulers, led by the Chairman of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, have described Mbah as a “promise keeper.

“For the first time in a long time, the rural communities feel the presence of the Lion Building,” a spokesperson for the council noted.

“From the new Type-2 Healthcare Centers to the cultural restoration projects, the Governor has proven that leadership is about empathy and action.”

A Message of Longevity and Continuity

As the 2027 general election cycle begins to appear on the horizon, political analysts suggest that Mbah’s performance has significantly altered the political temperature in the state.

JolibaLive News joins millions of well-wishers in extending heartfelt birthday wishes to His Excellency.

We celebrate his resilience and his “disruptive” approach to governance.

We pray for continued wisdom, physical strength, and the grace to steer Enugu State toward the promised land of economic prosperity.

Happy 54th Birthday, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah!
