Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo has sent an urgent message to US President Donald Trump to come save persecuted Chrisitian in Nigeria, saying any delay could mean the world may not hear from him again.
Dachomo once alleged that terrorists, accused of Jihadists intents in the alleged massacre of Chrisitan populations in the Middle sections of Nigeria have placed a bounty on his head.
In an X post on Thursday, Dachamo claimed his Facebook account had been blocked ostensibly for crying out regarding the dangers faced by the Christian faithfuls in Nigeria.
“My message to President Trump is please don’t relent. Come quickly before they finish us, if you delay, you’ll not hear my voice anymore. Because these people, they have finished with my Facebook account, they have blocked it the way they did to you. Come quickly, you’re not going to save us alone as Christians, my fellow brothers Muslims are in pain. Save Nigeria!” Dachomo cried.
There is no evidence Mr. Trump heard the message, but the clergy’s appeal comes on the backdrop of Trump’s threat to send U.S. forces “gun blazing” to eradicate terrorists “committing genocide against Nigerian Christians.”
Nigerian government vehemently denies the genocide claims but have since ramped up strikes on terrorists’ hideouts in the north.
Still Message of Hope for the Persecuted
Rev. Dachomo then reassured displaced and persecuted Christian communities in Nigeria that “help is on the way,” following a high-profile visit by a U.S. Congressional delegation to Benue State.
Dachomo, a pastor and human rights activist from Plateau State, is known for leading the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) and documenting communal violence and mass burials across Nigeria’s Middle Belt.
Reacting to comments made by U.S. Congressman Rep. Riley M. Moore of West Virginia, the reverend said he has long faced criticism for speaking out but believes renewed international attention signals a turning point.
“Many names have been spoken against me for standing on the side of truth. Even when some try to suppress it, truth cannot be hidden forever. My Facebook account may have been taken down for raising concerns, but the light of truth will always prevail. Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Help is on the way,” he said.
U.S. Delegation’s Findings
Moore, posting on X late Thursday, said the delegation met with Catholic Bishops Wilfred Anagbe and Stephen Dugu, as well as the Tor Tiv, and interacted with internally displaced persons who described repeated attacks on their communities.
He recounted “heartbreaking stories” from survivors, including a woman who said she witnessed the killing of five of her children. Moore described the violence as part of a “horrific genocidal campaign” attributed to extremist elements within Fulani communities.
“I’ve never seen anything like it. It will stay with me the rest of my life,” Moore wrote.
He added that he is preparing a report for U.S. leadership, outlining recommendations for coordinated action with the Nigerian government to protect vulnerable communities and curb terrorist threats.
Dachomo, who has consistently spoken against attacks on Christian populations in Nigeria’s Middle Belt, said Moore’s statements and his interview on U.S. television show that the crisis is finally gaining international recognition.
