The faction loyal to Chris Imumolen has rejected Governor Ademola Adeleke’s defection to the Accord Party, dismissing it as a “back‑door entry” and declaring it “invalid.”
In a statement, the group argued that proper party procedures were not followed, raising serious questions about the legitimacy of the governor’s action.
They insisted that the Accord Party’s constitution requires clear and transparent processes for membership, which they say Adeleke bypassed.
Party insiders warned that such a move could threaten internal cohesion and deepen existing divisions within political party.
They cautioned that the development may carry far‑reaching implications, particularly with elections approaching.
According to them, party realignments, if not carefully managed, could erode voter confidence and reshape political alliances in Osun State.
Osun State is preparing for gubernatorial election in 2026, with candidates from other heavyweight parties, the APC, PDP, ADC, and Labour Party, all angling to grab the governor’s seat from Mr. Adeleke.
