President Bola Tinubu is reportedly preparing to finalize and announce Nigeria’s new ambassadors to foreign missions worldwide.
The appointments come after a two-year diplomatic vacuum following the global recall of Nigeria’s previous envoys. The President is said to have ordered an urgent “final cleanup” of the ambassadorial nominees list ahead of its release.
The push to fill these posts coincides with growing diplomatic pressure from the United States, after threats from US President Donald Trump over alleged killings of Christians in Nigeria.
The president had dillydallied with appointment of ambassadors, and their absence, some argued, may have left Nigeria diplomatically exposed.
