Trump’s “Walk of Fame” Leaves Out Ex-President Biden

U.S. President Donald Trump has unveiled a new “Presidential Walk of Fame” outside the White House. The gallery shows portraits of past presidents in golden frames, but with one notable exception — Joe Biden.

The portraits line the West Wing Colonnade, an iconic walkway built during Thomas Jefferson’s presidency. The colonnade links the West Wing and the Executive Residence, often used by presidents and staff for quick passage.

In Biden’s place, Trump installed a picture of an autopen machine signing Biden’s name. The image echoes Trump’s long-standing attacks that Biden relied on the autopen instead of personally carrying out presidential duties.

The White House itself drew attention to the alteration on its official social media platforms. The move sparked sharp debate about presidential tradition and respect for history.

Trump has ridiculed Biden’s use of the autopen, a mechanical signature tool used when signatories cannot be physically present. The practice is common in Washington and has been used by both Republican and Democratic leaders for decades.

Still, Trump insists Biden’s reliance on the device undermined his presidency. He went further by questioning the validity of pardons and legislation signed with the autopen.

Biden Reaction

Biden responded in a statement: “Let me be clear: I made the decisions during my presidency. I made the decisions about the pardons, executive orders, legislation, and proclamations. Any suggestion that I didn’t is ridiculous and false.”

Trump teased the controversial decision earlier this month in an interview with The Daily Caller. “It’s a decision I have to make. We put up a picture of the autopen,” he said.

This is not the first time Trump has reshaped the White House’s symbolic space. In June, he removed Hillary Clinton’s portrait and replaced it with a patriotic painting of himself.

In August, he pushed portraits of Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and George H.W. Bush from prominent display to less-visible corners.

By replacing Biden’s portrait, Trump appears to be rewriting history with his own brushstrokes, but whether Americans see this as bold or disrespectful remains to be seen.
