Respected voices from business, academia, and communications have thrown their weight behind “Leading in a Storm”, the new book by Dr. Dakuku Peterside. They say it offers leaders a practical compass for navigating turbulence across sectors.
The book, which follows his bestselling Strategic Turnaround, distils lessons from politics, public administration, and years in leadership into a clear playbook for crisis management.
Senator Daisy Danjuma, Chairman of South Atlantic Petroleum, described the book as “a clear, practical guide for navigating crisis and disruption.”
She praised Peterside for offering tools like context awareness, composure, complexity management, proactive decision-making, adaptability, teamwork, and continuous learning. “Any leader serious about thriving in today’s uncertain world will find this work indispensable,” she added.
Professor Lilian Salami, immediate past Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, said the book was urgent and timely. “With the world experiencing turmoil in all aspects of existence, leaders must be adequately equipped to navigate uncertainties,” she stated.
She underscored Peterside’s thesis that “crisis is the new normal.” She urged leaders to move from reactive crisis management to proactive, transformative leadership anchored on strategic foresight, decisive action, contextual intelligence, and adaptive resilience.
Public relations specialist Lami Tumaka, Chairman of Blue Economy Nigeria Ltd, recalled working with Peterside at NIMASA. She said: “Leading in a Storm is a masterclass in crisis leadership, offering practical strategies for navigating turbulent times.”
She praised the book’s focus on adaptability, resilience, and decisive action. “His nuanced exploration of leadership challenges is both insightful and actionable,” she noted.
Peterside argues that in today’s world of volatility and disruption, leaders must read context, communicate with clarity, make tough calls under pressure, and mobilise teams to adapt.
