Świątek, who entered the match as a heavy favorite, admitted she could not match the American’s intensity. “I couldn’t win today’s match playing like that… with Amanda being so aggressive on the returns,” she confessed.
Despite the disappointment, she insisted she remained proud of her summer achievements.
Anisimova’s reward is a semifinal clash against Naomi Osaka. The Japanese star, seeded 23rd, advanced earlier in the day by defeating Karolina Muchova. Their meeting promises a compelling contest between two players eager to reclaim their place among tennis’ elite.
