Novak Djokovic has once again shown why he’s a Grand Slam legend. He defeated Taylor Fritz in four sets to reach the 2025 US Open semifinals.
The match ended 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 under the lights at Arthur Ashe Stadium. It lasted just under three and a half hours.
Fritz came in as the last American standing. But Djokovic, calm and clinical, saved 11 of 13 break points to seal the win
After the match, Djokovic broke into a playful K-Pop dance. “It was for my daughter. She turned eight today,” he said with a smile.
She wasn’t at the stadium, but the tribute lit up the crowd. It was a rare soft moment after a hard-fought battle.
Fritz had his chances. He took the third set and pushed Djokovic to the edge. But the Serb found his rhythm again in the fourth.
This win marks Djokovic’s 11th straight victory over Fritz. He also extended his unbeaten record against Americans at the US Open to 16–0.
Alcaraz Awaits in the Semifinal
Next up is Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard cruised past Jiri Lehecka in straight sets and hasn’t dropped a set all tournament.
Djokovic leads their head-to-head 5–3. But Alcaraz has momentum and youth on his side. The semifinal promises fireworks.
